Albany police log: Car stripped of tires; suspect arrested in hit-and-run incident

MONDAY, Dec. 23 GRAND THEFT -- During the night thieves stole all four tires off a car on Solano Avenue. HOME BREAK-IN -- Thieves broke into an apartment overnight and stole items from inside. Officers are investigating. DISTURBANCE -- At 11 p.m. officers responded to Albany Bowl in the 500 block of San Pablo Avenue regarding a person who was intoxicated and refusing to leave. Officers arrested the 21-year-old Willits man for disorderly conduct.
TUESDAY, Dec. 24 VEHICLE TOWED -- Officers investigated and towed an unoccupied older white van parked near Cleveland Street and Washington Avenue that did not have any plates. DUI ACCIDENT -- At 8:30 p.m. officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run that had just occurred on Talbot Avenue. A red Cadillac was seen leaving the scene heading south toward Solano Avenue. Officers located the vehicle in the 800 block of Evelyn Avenue and arrested a 63-year-old Albany man at his home for suspicion of two counts of DUI.
WEDNESDAY, Dec. 25 TRESPASSING -- Officers warned a person riding a dirt bike off-road on Albany Hill at 10:30 a.m. TRESPASSING -- At 2:30 p.m. officers responded to a residence near Kains Avenue and Harrison Street on reports of a person on the property who should not be there. Officers arrested a 23-year-old Oakland woman for suspicion of drug possession and trespassing.
THURSDAY, Dec. 26 DISORDERLY CONDUCT -- At 4:30 a.m. officers investigated a person acting suspiciously on Marin Avenue near Stannage Avenue and arrested the 23-year-old transient Albany woman on suspicion of being under the influence and being unable to care for herself. She was taken to a hospital. AUTO BREAK-IN -- During the day thieves smashed the window of a car in the Sizzler parking lot on San Pablo Avenue and stole items from inside. DISTURBING BEHAVIOR -- At 8:30 p.m. officers warned a man in his early 20s near Brighton Avenue and Key Route Boulevard who reportedly approached two girls, ages 16 and 17, and was communicating in a way that frightened them and caused them to run away. He did not appear to have been drinking.
FRIDAY, Dec. 27 UNSTABLE PERSON -- Officers arrested a 51-year-old El Cerrito man near San Pablo and Washington avenues at 4 a.m. for suspicion of drug possession and a probation violation. CAR TOWED -- At 11:30 p.m. officers had a car towed that was blocking a driveway in the 800 block of Adams Street.
SATURDAY, Dec. 28 SUSPICION -- Officers arrested a 61-year-old Vallejo man at Golden Gate Fields at 5 p.m. for suspicion of possession of stolen property. NO LICENSE -- At 9 p.m. officers stopped a 65-year-old Oakland man near San Pablo and Monroe avenues for a vehicle code violation and arrested him for suspicion of driving without a license.
SUNDAY, Dec. 29 DRUGS -- At 12:30 a.m. officers investigated a person acting suspiciously at Golden Gate Fields and arrested the 53-year-old San Leandro man for suspicion of two counts of drug possession. DUI -- Officers stopped a vehicle near Garfield Street and San Pablo Avenue at 3:30 a.m. for a vehicle code violation and arrested a 24-year-old Oakland man for suspicion of two counts of DUI. FIRE -- At 2 p.m. Albany firefighters responded to the 700 block of Taft Street on reports of a residence on fire. The fire was extinguished by about 5 p.m. No one was injured. WARRANT -- At 10:30 p.m. officers investigated a person acting suspiciously near Portland and San Pablo avenues and arrested the 31-year-old Albany man for an outstanding warrant and suspicion of disorderly conduct.
