Albany police log: Roof rack stolen off truck; burglars on video trying to take a restaurant cash register

MONDAY, March 10 BIKE STOLEN -- At about 12:30 p.m. a resident on Solano Avenue reported her husband's bike had been stolen from their garage and that neighbors had also had items stolen in the past. THEFT -- A business owner reported having video footage of a former employee stealing from his business on Solano Avenue. HOME BREAK-IN -- At 8:30 p.m. a Neilson Street resident reported returning home to find that burglars had smashed a window and broken in. Officers responded to investigate.
TUESDAY, March 11 DUI -- Officers stopped a vehicle in the 900 block of Pierce Street for a vehicle code violation at 1 a.m. and a 28-year-old Richmond man was arrested for suspicion of two counts of DUI. THEFT AND CONSPIRACY -- At 3 a.m. officers investigated a vehicle near San Pablo Avenue and Buchanan Street and arrested two men from Oakland, ages 19 and 20, for suspicion of car theft and conspiracy. DUI -- A 37-year-old El Cerrito man was arrested for suspicion of two counts of DUI at 3 a.m. when he was stopped in the 600 block of San Pablo Avenue for a traffic violation. DOUBLE ARREST -- Officers arrested a 31-year-old San Francisco man and a 49-year-old Gilroy man for suspicion of possession of stolen property and possession of drugs when they were stopped for a traffic violation at 11:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Solano Avenue.
WEDNESDAY, March 12 AUTO THEFT -- A work truck with a roof rack was stolen at about 2 p.m. while parked on Curtis Street. ATTEMPTED THEFT -- The owner of Rendez-Vous Café called at 9 p.m. to report having a surveillance tape that showed someone had entered through a back door during the afternoon while the business was closed and attempted to steal cash from the register.
THURSDAY, March 13 VANDALISM -- At 2:30 a.m. officers arrested a 41-year-old transient man from Oakland on Solano Avenue near Cornell Avenue for suspicion of vandalism, petty theft and prior theft convictions. WARRANT -- A 30-year-old transient man from El Sobrante was arrested at 1:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Madison Street for an outstanding warrant.
FRIDAY, March 14 DUI -- Shortly before midnight a 45-year-old San Leandro woman was arrested in the 800 block of Madison Street for suspicion of two counts of DUI when she was involved in a vehicle accident with another car.
SATURDAY, March 15 DUI -- At 3:30 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle on the 700 block of Taft Street for a vehicle code violation. The driver, a 25-year-old Albany man, was arrested for suspicion of two counts of DUI. WARRANT -- Officers arrested a 33-year-old Oakland man on Interstate 80 near Buchanan Street for an outstanding warrant. TOW -- At 10 p.m. officers had a car towed from San Pablo Avenue that did not have license plates. DISTURBANCE -- Officers issued a warning at about 10 p.m. to a noisy group of partyers on Kains Avenue when neighbors complained.
