The St. Clement-Hayward fourth grade CYO American and National boys basketball teams ended their seasons undefeated by winning the Oakland diocese championships this month. What made this accomplishment extra impressive was that both teams consist of mostly third graders.

The St. Clement American squad finished with a 17-0 record and beat St. Perpetua-Lafayette 45-43 to win the Oakland diocese championship. TJ Knight, Matthew Villenueva and Darius Smith Jr. led all scorers with 10 points apiece, and teammate Amir Williams added eight points.

The St. Clement National team was 14-0 this season, including a 35-23 victory over Santa Maria-Orinda for the Oakland diocese championship. Lorenzo Deperio, Carson Mandigma and Nicholas Esqueda led all scorers with eight points each, and teammate Eric Braziel added six points.
