PLEASANTON -- ValleyCare Health System directors said Monday that they have chosen interim CEO Scott Gregerson to take over the job permanently.
Directors named Gregerson the interim CEO in early February, after ValleyCare's longtime CEO Marcy Feit's abrupt departure.
"Health care is going through tremendous change, and we need a leader capable of dealing with these changing forces," John Sensiba, chairman of the ValleyCare Board of Directors, said in a written statement. "Based on his first 45 days in the role of interim CEO, the board developed confidence that Scott was the right candidate to continue to lead the organization forward."
Gregerson, a Dublin resident, previously served as ValleyCare's vice president of strategic partnerships from April 2012, and has a wealth of experience working with physician groups and in health care consulting, hospital officials said.
Gregerson said, in a statement, that one of the system's biggest challenges is its fiscal stability, but it is "taking steps now that provide short-term financial relief and will lead to long-term financial health."
"I am honored and humbled to have been chosen to lead ValleyCare in the fulfillment of its mission," he said.
