ANTIOCH -- Highway 4 drivers here may want to allow for a few extra minutes of travel time during the overnight hours the next few nights.

All westbound lanes of the freeway will be closed midnight to 3 a.m. overnight tonight between the Lone Tree Way/A Street and Contra Loma Boulevard/L Street exits, according to a Contra Costa Transportation Authority news release.

Those lanes will also be closed during that time overnight Monday and Tuesday.

Contractors will be working to install new concrete pavement as part of the project to widen Highway 4 to eight lanes. The closures ensure crew and public safety.

The contractor will also close all eastbound lanes from 1 to 6 a.m. overnight Saturday and midnight to 5 a.m. overnight Monday and Tuesday between the Somersville Road/Auto Center Drive and Lone Tree/A exits.

Westbound motorists will be detoured down West 18th Street to L and back onto the freeway. Eastbound drivers will be directed off the highway to Delta Fair Boulevard and down Buchanan Road to Putnam Street and to Lone Tree.
