The smell of sausage will fill the air and the beer will flow in the downtown area Sunday.
The San Leandro Downtown Association is sponsoring the Sausage & Suds Festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Parrott Street, between East 14th Street and Washington Avenue.
The annual food and music festival will feature a beer-and-wine garden and lots of live music throughout the day.
The event typically attracts thousands and is geared toward families; this year it features a special Kids Green Zone.
Sausage & Suds originated in 1997, when San Leandro was designated the "Sausage Capital of California" by the Legislature. The event went on hiatus from 2003 through 2006 but returned in 2007.
Admission is free. Proceeds are used to support the association's downtown events held throughout the year.
The festival is accessible via BART, and secured valet bicycle parking will be offered for a fee.
The live music lineup on the Parrott Street stage includes Layce Baker and the Black Diamond Band, Glimpse Trio, Spazmatics and Avance. A Zumba class will be held on the stage from 10 to 11 a.m.
