HAYWARD -- Firefighters knocked down a tricky one-alarm blaze that broke out in a home on Sublett Drive near Harder Road shortly before 10 a.m. Friday.

According to Hayward fire Capt. Thor Poulsen, the fire was difficult to get to because it started in a converted garage and spread to the attic. It was reported at 9:42 a.m. and extinguished at 9:55 a.m., according to dispatch reports.

Poulsen said an initial search found nobody in the home. A cause was not immediately available.
