OAKLAND -- A gunman carjacked a vehicle to commit at least three robberies within an hour Thursday morning in the Rockridge district and Emeryville, police said.
The first robbery happened about 7:25 a.m. in the 5800 block of Ocean View Drive where a woman had a laptop taken. At 7:30 a.m. another person was robbed near Forest Street and Oak Grove Avenue.
The Emeryville robbery happened about 8:20 a.m. near 40th Street and San Pablo Avenue.
In each case the robber fled in a 2001 silver Oldsmobile that taken at gunpoint during a carjacking Wednesday afternoon in the 3300 block of Wisconsin Street in East Oakland. The car owner was not hurt.
Police on Thursday were also investigating a violent robbery and vehicle theft that happened about 3:35 p.m. Wednesday in the 3700 block of Fruitvale Avenue near Dimond Park.
Authorities said a man was attacked and robbed by a large group of young males and females, possibly as many as 30, one of whom took the man's car. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
