HAYWARD -- Traffic was backed up along northbound Interstate 238 in Hayward for an hour Friday morning due to a three-vehicle crash involving a big rig, a box truck and a small car, according to the California Highway Patrol.
No one was seriously injured in the wreck that was reported just before 9:25 a.m. just south of the Washington Avenue exit, said Officer Zachary Hunter. The wreck was cleared by 10:25 a.m.
According to Hunter, the driver of the two-door Honda Civic, which was pinned beneath the box truck, was able to get out of the car and was walking around despite the vehicle being crushed between the two large trucks.
The investigation is ongoing.
