AC Transit is hosting two community events on Saturday, Sept. 22 to allow East Bay youth and their parents to sign up for Clipper Youth cards.

Sign-up sessions will be from 10 a.m. 3 p.m. at the AC Transit and Clipper Customer Service Center at 1600 Franklin St. in Oakland.

A second session be from noon to 4 p.m. at NewPark Mall, next to Mowry Avenue and Interstate 880 in Newark.

A child may obtain the Clipper Youth Card by completing an application form signed by a parent or guardian and presenting documentation -- such as a birth certificate, medical benefit card, passport or California identification card -- that verifies the child's age.

Children ages 5 to 18 who have a Clipper Youth card can receive a 31-day AC Transit Youth Pass, which offers unlimited rides for $20.
