The Earthquakes plan to start selling individual tickets for their first home MLS Cup playoff game at 10 a.m. Wednesday but also announced they have fewer than 2,500 seats available.
Major League Soccer's top team is the only club to clinch a playoff berth with more than a month still left in the regular season. San Jose (17-6-6) is expected to open the playoffs in the Western Conference semifinals starting the first week of November, but dates won't be determined until the final standings. The playoffs begin Oct. 31/Nov. 1 with wild-card play-in matches.
In an effort to increase revenue, San Jose officials also are offering playoff seats to those who put a $50 deposit on 2013 season tickets before the public sale next week. For information: www.sjearthquakes.com or 1-800-225-2277.
Club officials also announced Thursday that the Earthquakes have sold out their remaining two regular-season home games -- Sept. 29 against FC Dallas and Oct. 21 against the Los Angeles Galaxy.
