SAN LORENZO -- A 16-year-old girl was struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver Saturday as she walked on Grant Avenue toward Arroyo High School, a CHP dispatcher said.

Shortly after 8 a.m., the girl was hit by a silver vehicle turning onto Grant Avenue as she entered the crosswalk at Via Seco, dispatchers said. The driver then fled east on Grant Avenue.

The girl was taken to Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center with an injured left leg and left ankle, dispatchers said.

Police are currently searching for the vehicle, described as a silver four-foor sedan or SUV, possibly a Honda, which may have damage to its front left bumper.
