The bond between the Bay Area and New Orleans grows stronger as the Preservation Hall West at the Chapel opens this week. The venue, which is modeled after the famous Fat City spot Preservation Hall, makes its entrance in grand style -- presenting Steve Earle, Elvis Costello and many other talented acts over the next few days. Opening night is Oct. 4 and features the always awesome Preservation Hall Jazz Band in concert with troubadour Robert Earl Keen and other special guests. Showtime is 9 p.m. Tickets are $30 (www.ticketfly.com). There are also tantalizing shows set for Oct. 5-7. Preservation Hall West at the Chapel is at 777 Valencia St.
