OAKLAND -- BART service was back on time just before 7 a.m. Thursday morning after a maintenance vehicle got stuck near the Macarthur station, officials said.

The delays were primarily on the lines from Pittsburg/Bay Point to SFO, from Richmond to Daly City, and from Richmond to Fremont, according to BART spokesman Jim Allison. Trains originating in the southern part of the East Bay were mostly unaffected, he said.

The vehicle was working on a side-track in the area between the MacArthur and 19th Street stations around 4:45 a.m. when it became disabled and came off the tracks, Allison said. Other machinery to "re-rail" the disabled vehicle was brought in, but trains had to move slowly through the area to avoid the maintenance crews and equipment.
