FREMONT -- A 51-year-old woman was hospitalized with major head injuries after she crashed her bicycle on a Fremont street early Friday morning.

Her name was not released.

Police said no vehicles were involved in the incident. The woman lost control of the bike, fell off the bicycle and her head hit the ground, said Officer Alan Zambonin, who is with the traffic unit.

It's not clear how the crash occurred at 6:45 a.m. Friday on Osgood Road, south of Washington Boulevard, and police are asking anyone who may have seen the crash to contact them.

The woman was taken to Regional Medical Center of San Jose for treatment. Her condition was not known early Saturday.
