In a game featuring plenty of offense, the Trojans (3-3, 1-0 West Alameda County Conference-Foothill Division) outlasted the Pirates for the home victory thanks to the dynamic duo of running backs Demareyeh Lane and Robert Taylor.

The pair accounted for all seven of Castro Valley's touchdowns. Lane rushed for 173 yards on 30 carries and scored two touchdowns, and Taylor accounted for 146 yards on the ground and five total touchdowns. He returned a kick 77 yards for a score.

San Leandro (0-6, 0-1 WACC) received a prime opportunity to notch its first victory of the season when its defense forced the Trojans to punt with 2:10 to go. Trailing 41-39, San Leandro needed only a field goal for the victory. But the Pirates' return man muffed the punt, and Taylor put the game on ice with a 38-yard touchdown run.
