SAN JOSE -- One day after Gov. Jerry Brown ordered the state Air Resources Board to take emergency steps to increase the amount of gasoline available to fuel stations, gas prices in the state and Silicon Valley remain mostly unchanged.

The average price of a gallon of gas in San Jose on Tuesday dropped by 1 cent overnight to $4.67, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report. The cost per gallon is up by more than 50 cents from a week ago.

The average price of $4.68 on Monday was an all-time high in the San Jose area, according to the Daily Fuel Gaure Report.

Prices at pumps in Oakland and San Francisco remain unchanged from Monday. In Oakland, the average price remained at $4.68; in San Francisco, the average price is $4.74.
