SANTA ROSA -- A woman found naked, screaming and badly burned on the side of a road late Tuesday night appears to have tried to take her own life, according to Sonoma County sheriff's investigators.
The woman was taken to a burn center in San Francisco. Her condition was not known Wednesday morning.
Deputies were called to an address on Sonoma Mountain Road about 10:24 p.m. on a domestic disturbance, according to Sonoma County sheriff's Lt. Glenn Lawrence. When they arrived, they found burned clothing in the driveway.
Another caller told deputies about 25 minutes later that a woman was screaming in a field about a mile away. While investigating that report, the deputies found the woman on the side of the road, completely nude and badly burned.
The woman was conscious and still screaming in pain, Lawrence said. She was taken to a hospital and later transported to the burn center.
It was later determined that the woman was trying to commit suicide, Lawrence said.
