OAKLAND -- A 37-year-old man was shot early Thursday in Old Oakland after he resisted a robber, police said. The robber escaped with the man's expensive belt.
The Oakland resident, whose name was not released, was wounded in the side and hand. He was in stable condition at a hospital and is expected to recover.
The shooting happened about 2:09 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Ninth and Washington streets, just a few blocks from police headquarters.
Police said the victim was confronted by at least three men who tried to rob him.
He resisted, got into a physical altercation with one of the robbers and was shot before his belt was taken.
