High school Friday BVAL Heritage (0-6, 0-1) at Antioch (5-1, 0-1), 7 p.m. Deer Valley (5-1, 1-0) at Liberty (2-4, 0-1), 7 p.m. Freedom (4-2, 1-0) at Pittsburg (4-2, 1-0), 7 p.m.DFAL Las Lomas (3-4, 2-1) at Campolindo (5-1, 2-0), 7 p.m.A closer look : The Cougars received some bad news earlier in the week, learning that standout quarterback Brett Stephens is out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. Andrew Zolintakis is expected to take Stephens' place under center. He and the Cougars will have to adjust quickly, as they face a Las Lomas defense that held Dublin to just 78 total yards last week. Whether California can match its defensive intensity from a 36-7 rout of Foothill two weeks ago could prove key. The Grizzlies are averaging 35.9 points a game but allowing 24.5. The Wolves feature TE/LB Ryan Dunn, an Arizona commit, sophomore receiver JJ Koske -- who has 12 catches for 300 yards in the past three games -- and junior RB Marcus de la Pena.
