UNION CITY -- An election forum featuring four candidates vying to represent District Two of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors is scheduled Saturday morning.
The forum is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. at Paddy's Coffee House at 3900 Smith St.
The race is pitting incumbent Richard Valle against Union City Mayor Mark Green, former state Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi and Deputy Sheriff Mark Turnquist. Each candidate is expected to attend the forum to discuss their vision for serving the district, forum organizers said.
It is being co-hosted by local grass roots groups, Filipino Advocates for Justice and Communities Organizing for Renewal.
Local clergy leaders, such as Minister Joe Robinson of Faith Bible Fellowship in Newark, are expected to attend the event to encourage residents to participate in the democratic process.
"It's really crucial that we get out there and vote," Robinson said. "It's the local races ... where our votes are most impactful. We have a right and responsibility as people of faith and as Americans to vote."
