Five San Jose boys were arrested at Great Mall Tuesday in connection to an auto theft, Milpitas Police Department reported.

At 5:37 p.m. that day, a Milpitas police officer was flagged over and advised of an automobile burglary that had just occurred in the parking lot of Burlington Coat Factory, police said.

The officer allegedly located two people matching the description of the burglars seated in a 1991 Honda Accord parked nearby. It was determined they were burglarizing the Honda Accord, and they were both arrested, police said.

Witnesses provided additional information regarding three more possible suspects that fled prior to the officer's arrival. They were allegedly located at the Milpitas VTA Light Rail station and detained for questioning, police said.

Upon further investigation, it was determined all five suspects, ages 13 to 17, allegedly arrived at the mall in a 1991 Toyota, stolen from San Jose earlier in the day. All five suspects were arrested on charges of auto theft. Two of them had outstanding warrants for their arrest, police said.
