SAN LEANDRO -- City residents will be able to recycle household batteries, medications, fluorescent and incandescent lights, and mercury thermometers on Nov. 15.

The event at Marina Community Center is part of a nationwide America Recycles Day.

Other items that will be accepted include cellphones and chargers, empty toner cartridges, CDs, DVDs, floppy disks and audio and video tapes.

Medications should be removed from containers and placed in zip-close plastic bags. Batteries also should be put in zip-close bags.

The recycling will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 15301 Wicks Blvd. It is open only to San Leandro residents.
