HAYWARD -- Police on Friday identified a body found earlier this week as that of a 19-year-old Hayward man who disappeared last month, and have classified his death as a homicide.

Luis Calleros, 19, was last seen Oct. 21 leaving his home near Folsom and Pompano avenues. His father reported him missing Nov. 1, police said.

His body was found Tuesday night inside an abandoned auto repair shop at 28953 Mission Blvd. Police did not release the cause of death, but did say his death was being treated as a homicide. The man's identity was confirmed through dental records and an examination, police said.

Police said after the body was found that it appeared to have been there for a lengthy amount of time based on the level of decomposition. Deputies at the Alameda County Coroner's Bureau identified Calleros with the help of dental records, police said.

Anyone with information about Calleros' death or disappearance is asked to call police at 510-293-7000 or submit an anonymous tip at 510-293-7197.
