Two San Jose transients were apprehended Sunday afternoon after they allegedly entered a vacant building on the 1600 block of McCandless Drive, Milpitas Police Department reported.

At about 12:56 p.m., a Milpitas police officer was on patrol and noticed someone walking in the area of a vacant business. The officer confronted 48-year-old transient Gregory Mackin as he traversed the parking lot adjacent to the vacant commercial buildings, police said.

Other officers quickly arrived on scene and set up a perimeter. A second person, 53-year-old transient Lawrence Rabello, was apprehended as he exited the south side of the building, police said.

Both men were arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Jail.

Rabello was arrested on suspicion of commercial burglary and an outstanding warrant, police said.

Mackin was arrested on suspicion of prowling. He was also arrested on charges of commercial burglary Sept. 24 on McCandless Drive, after he and two others allegedly stripped metal and wire from a building.
