Two girls found fatally shot Sunday morning in East Oakland were ages 15 and 16, police said Tuesday.
Their names were not being released until investigators interviewed their families, but police said the two were friends. The 16-year-old was from Oakland and the 15-year-old from San Leandro.
The two were found shot about 6 a.m. Sunday in the 2600 block of Minna Avenue, near Brookdale Park. They died later at a hospital.
Officer Brad Baker said the girls did not live in the area, and police are not sure what they were doing there or how they got there.
Police don't have a motive for the killings, and no arrests have been made. The homicides brought the city's total to 115 this year.
Police and CrimeStoppers of Oakland are offering up to $20,000 in reward money in the homicides. Anyone with information can call police at 510-238-3821 or a tip line at 510-773-2805.
