LIVERMORE -- Wineries all across the Livermore Valley will open their doors Saturday and Sunday to ring in a weekend of festivities for the Holidays in the Vineyards event.
Participating wineries will offer special discounts, new wine releases, arts and craft and artisan food vendors, Santa visits, carolers, and more.
Among the highlights at the annual event, Livermore's Concannon Vineyard will sell tickets for horse carriage rides (weather permitting) that include glass of wine and hot chocolate for the kids. Santa Claus will visit Wente Vineyards Estate in Livermore from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, with complimentary apple cider.
Bent Creek Winery in Livermore will host a band playing light jazz and holiday music from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and will feature their new 2009 vintage Livermore Valleysyrah.
The Cantabella Children's Choir is scheduled to perform Saturday at Retzlaff Vineyards in Livermore with complimentary hot chocolate, cookies, and arts and crafts.
Visitors to Cedar Mountain Winery in Livermore will be treated to a holiday gift shop and a special holiday port.
More than 30 wineries are participating in the event. Tickets aren't required, but tasting fees apply and vary by location. Guests are also encouraged to bring unwrapped toys or monetary donations for the Pleasanton-Livermore Fire Association's Toys for Tots program.
