A passenger in a vehicle that police investigated because it was parked illegally was arrested after he was allegedly found in possession of 20 wrapped packages of cocaine.

The man, 35, who was taken into custody about 12:10 a.m. Nov. 20 in the 2200 block of San Jose Avenue, was on probation, which led officers to search him. He was also in possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, police said. Along with facing a charge of possessing cocaine for sale, the man was booked on suspicion of violating his probation.

TUESDAY, NOV. 20

  • BURGLARY -- Someone stole copper wiring from a warehouse in the 2400 block of Lexington Street. The theft was reported just before 8 a.m.

  • PETTY THEFT -- A woman, 45, faces a petty theft charge after police said she concealed merchandise on her motorized wheelchair and then left the CVS store on Santa Clara Avenue without paying for the items. It happened about 2:20 p.m.

    WEDNESDAY, NOV. 21

  • ROBBERY -- A robber armed with a handgun stole a woman's cell phone about 12:40 a.m. in the 500 block of Santa Clara Avenue, police said.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 6:10 a.m. in the 1100 block of Fontana Drive. Two vehicles were also reported stolen about 1 p.m. and 3:10 p.m. from the city's parking garage in the 1400 block of Oak Street. Police also recovered a vehicle that was reported stolen in San Francisco about 7:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Linden Street.

  • BURGLARY -- Someone stole tools from a garage in the 700 block of Paru Street. The burglary was reported about 10:35 a.m.

  • FORGERY -- Police are investigating a report that someone sent a fraudulent $1,800 business check to a woman in the 300 block of Grand Street. Police learned about the check about 5:30 p.m. A fraudulent $100 traveler's check was also passed at a business in the 1600 block of Webster Street. The incident was reported just after 6 p.m.

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- A 46-year-old woman faces a drunken driving charge after she was arrested about 11:45 p.m. in the 3100 block of San Jose Avenue following a traffic collision, police said. The woman is also accused of attempting to flee the scene on foot.

    THURSDAY, NOV. 22

  • POLICE PURSUIT -- A patrol officer tried to pull over a motorist for a traffic violation, but the driver did not stop. The officer called off the pursuit because it threatened public safety. It happened about 1:45 a.m. at Broadway and Tilden Way.

    FRIDAY, NOV. 23

  • PETTY THEFT -- A security guard at Kohl's at Alameda South Shore Center placed a man, 29, under citizen's arrest after he was caught allegedly shoplifting merchandise. The arrest occurred just before 3 a.m. The man was released at the scene with a citation, police said.

    SATURDAY, NOV. 24

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- A motorist who a patrol officer pulled over for speeding was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. The arrest occurred about 1:40 a.m. in the 500 block of 29th Avenue in Oakland, where police said the woman failed field sobriety tests before she was taken into custody.

  • PETTY THEFT -- A man placed under citizen's arrest by a security guard at Safeway at Alameda South Shore Center after he was spotted shoplifting was also a convicted sex offender, police said. Along with petty theft, the 45-year-old man was arrested for failing for comply with his registration requirements, police said.

    SUNDAY, NOV. 25

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a woman, 24, on suspicion of drunken driving following a traffic stop about 1:50 a.m. in the 2400 block of Santa Clara Avenue. The woman failed field sobriety tests before she was taken into custody, police said. She was booked at the North County Jail in Oakland.

  • BURGLARY -- A burglar who tried to steal copper from a warehouse in the 2400 block of Lexington Avenue fled after tripping an alarm, police said. The break-in occurred just before 3 a.m.

  • DRUG POSSESSION -- A 49-year-old man who officers initially contacted while investigating a disturbance was arrested after they found him in possession of methamphetamine, police said. The man, who also faces a charge of possessing stolen property, was arrested about 1:15 p.m. in the 1200 block of Lincoln Avenue.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen just after 3 p.m. in the 700 block of Taylor Avenue. A vehicle was also reported stolen about 6:10 p.m. in the 2200 block of Alameda South Shore Center.

  • DRUG PARAPHERNALIA -- Police arrested a motorist after a traffic stop about 9:25 p.m. in the 2200 block of Clement Avenue, where he was allegedly found in possession of narcotics paraphernalia. A records check also revealed that the 20-year-old man was never issued a driver's license, police said. After he was arrested, police released him at the scene with a citation.

    MONDAY, NOV. 26

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen just after 10 a.m. in the 2100 block of San Jose Avenue.

  • PETTY THEFT -- Police arrested a woman, 51, on suspicion of petty theft after she allegedly shoplifted merchandise from Kohl's at Alameda South Shore Center. The woman, who was arrested about 4:50 p.m., was on probation for petty theft and was in violation of a court order that stipulates she must stay at least 300 yards away from Kohl's, police records show.

  • IDENTITY THEFT -- Identity theft was reported about 5:20 p.m. in the 200 block of Lina Avenue.

  • SUICIDE -- The High Street Bridge was closed for more than an hour as officers investigated the death of a man who committed suicide by hanging himself from the structure. Police closed the bridge at 12:53 p.m. after a caller reported that a man had committed suicide from the bridge. The bridge was reopened about 2:15 p.m. The man's name, age and city of residence were not released.
