RICHMOND -- Rep. George Miller, D- Martinez, will host a Saturday summit to help undocumented immigrants learn how they can apply for deferred action, which would allow them to temporarily avoid deportation.
The event is from 9-11 a.m. at DeJean Middle School, 3400 MacDonald Ave. in Richmond. Participants are asked to make reservations by visiting http://georgemiller.house.gov/dreamers. President Barack Obama recently announced that some young adults who came into the country when they were young can qualify for this special immigration status. Federal officials and representatives from community organizations will provide advice and answer questions.
More information is available by calling Miller's office at 510-262-6500.
