OAKLAND -- A 39-year-old man shot to death Friday night while sitting in a car outside his East Oakland home was identified by police Tuesday as Marchae L. Jackson.
A 53-year-old Oakland man with Jackson who was wounded several times remains hospitalized and is expected to recover. Police are not releasing his name.
The shooting happened about 11:45 p.m. Friday outside Jackson's home in the 5800 block of East 16th Street at Seminary Avenue.
Officer Leo Sanchez said Jackson and the other man were about to go to a store to get items for a party going on at Jackson's home. Before they drove off a gunman approached outside the vehicle and fired numerous shots at them, hitting both men. Jackson died at the scene.
Sanchez said police have not been able to establish a motive yet and no arrests have been made.
