The winner of the 2013 Ms. Wheelchair California Foundation Pageant will be crowned at an 11 a.m. gala Sunday at the Hilton Hotel in Long Beach.
The finalists for this year's competition are Crystal Allsopp of Torrance; Margarita Elizondo of San Diego; and Christa Saul of Anaheim Hills, according to Jennifer Kumiyama, state coordinator for the Ms. Wheelchair California Foundation.
The California title holder will go on to compete for the Ms. Wheelchair America crown in July in Houston.
Last year's California winner was Mary Zendejas of Long Beach. She placed third at the 2012 Ms. Wheelchair America Pageant in Rhode Island.
Kumiyama said the pageant highlights past achievements and communication, presentation and advocacy skills of each contestant. The foundation provides a platform for women living with disabilities to advocate for and empower others with disabilities and also to educate the public about the myths and realities of the disabled community, she said.
Lourdes Mack of San Diego also will be crowned as Little Miss Wheelchair California at the gala Sunday.
Last year's Little Miss Wheelchair was Katie Hull of Long Beach.
