A judge Friday again denied disgraced county Assessor John Noguez's request to lower his bail from $1.6 million, which he has said he cannot afford to pay.
He will be back in Los Angeles Superior Court on Feb. 28 to set a date for his preliminary hearing.
Noguez has been in jail since October, charged with 24 felony counts for allegedly accepting bribes to lower wealthy Los Angeles residents' and business owners' property taxes.
If convicted, he faces up to 30 years and four months in state prison. His other co-defendants in the case, including former county employees and a tax agent, have all been released on bail.
