The man shot by officers during a confrontation at a Morgan's jewelry store in Torrance was charged Monday with commercial burglary, police said.

Two police officers shot at Thompson when they responded to a burglary alarm at the store at Hawthorne and Sepulveda boulevards at 6:15 a.m. Thompson emerged through a shattered window. He was hit once in the hand.
Torrance police Sgt. Chris Roosen declined to address directly whether Thompson also is being investigated for two burglaries in November at the Robbins Brothers jewelry store at Torrance and Hawthorne Boulevards.
Police responded to a burglary alarm at 5:10 a.m. Nov. 24 when someone smashed a side emergency exit door at Robbins, entered the business, shattered display cases and took $5,000 in low-end jewelry.
