PORT OF LOS ANGELES — A worker at the Port of Los Angeles was taken to a hospital this afternoon after being exposed to a fumigation product, a city Fire Department spokeswoman said.
Port police had asked firefighters to investigate a possible hazardous substance in a 55-gallon drum at 155 Cannery St. on Terminal Island, spokeswoman Katherine Main said.
"It ended up being fumigation product," she said.
A port employee at the scene complained of medical problems, but "was fine" by the time firefighters arrived, she added. The worker was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
Port operations were not affected.
