EL SEGUNDO — A new restaurant is moving into the downtown El Segundo space that previously housed Schat's Bakery, the city announced Thursday.

Called Shoop's 131, the eatery is set to open at 131 W. Grand Ave. in March.

Restaurateur Matt Schuppel of Shoop's in Santa Monica and West Hollywood and wholesale bakery entrepreneur Sam Shofani of Le Pain de Jour will own and operate the new business, the city said.

"We are excited to serve the El Segundo community with entrees that will tantalize every palette combined with a vast array of baked goods and pastries in the European tradition of freshness and quality," Shofani said in a statement.

Shoop's 131 will be open for breakfast, lunch and early dinner, and serve bacon pancakes, San Francisco sourdough bowls, specialty sandwiches and beer and wine.
