Two dogs featured in Sunday's Daily Breeze took awards at this week's Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

Romeo, the country's top-rated German pinscher owned by Magno Salva of Torrance, took the title of Select Dog. The merit award recognizes the top quality dog after Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex are chosen. Romeo's registered American Kennel Club name is Bronze GCH Clefell's Romeo.

Ollie, a toy fox terrier who also was debuting at his first Westminster show, took the Best of Opposite Sex award in his breed. Ollie - whose full name is GR CH Ultra Quest Go for the Gold - is owned by Wendy Howard of Alta Loma in Rancho Cucamonga.

Another area dog not featured in the Daily Breeze article, GCH Solborg Loven Katherine Maija Lt owned by Maria Gunderson of Lomita, took Best of Opposite Sex in that breed competition.

Tonight will feature more group competition finishing up with the much-anticipated Best in Show event at the 137th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show (8-11 p.m. on the USA Network).
