The Downey Police Department is looking for possible victims, who were allegedly assaulted by a 40-year-old Victorville man posing as a spiritual advisor, police said.
According to police, Jose Felix advertised his services as a spiritual adviser in a Spanish classifieds magazine. Police didn't release the name of the publication.
"He would advertise his services as a spiritual adviser, letting these women know he was there to help them with their various issues," said Lt. Mark McDaniel of the Downey Police Department.
The suspect would get in contact with his alleged victims by phone and set up a meeting at various locations, where he assaulted them, he said. The most recent incident happened in Downey.
"It appears this suspect was preying on vulnerable women who were having everyday issues in life and he was preying on these people and coaxed them into believing he was a spiritual adviser," McDaniel said.
According to police there are multiple victims and could possibly be more.
"We want to make sure that if there are additional victims out there, that he is held accountable for those crimes," McDaniel said.
Anyone with information about possible victims or anyone who has met with the suspect is asked to call the Downey Police Department.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to contact Detective Laura Quint at 562-904-2308 or Sergeant Raul Salazar at 562-904-2304.
