A Los Angeles woman has been charged in connection with four burglaries at jewelry stores in Torrance, police said Tuesday.
Raynel Kenna Jackson, 25, who is suspected of working as a getaway driver in the crimes that netted $100,000 in loot, was arrested Feb. 13, Torrance police Sgt. Robert Watt said.
Detectives identified Jackson as a suspect following the Feb. 3 shooting and arrest of Owen Lazaro Thompson, 43, of Las Vegas.
Two police officers shot at Thompson when they confronted him as he emerged through a shattered window at Morgan's Jewelers at Hawthorne and Sepulveda Boulevard. He was hit in the finger.
Police later tied Thompson and Jackson to two burglaries at the Robbins Brothers jewelry store at Torrance and Hawthorne boulevards, and another at Sing's Jewelry at 24020 Hawthorne Blvd. in November, Watt said.
Jackson and Thompson are charged with commercial burglary. Police recovered some of the stolen property.
