Police pulled DNA off a rock hurled through a Torrance business' window to identify a Los Angeles man suspected in a string of burglaries, police said Tuesday.
Narvie Lee Richmond, 61, was arrested Tuesday morning in connection with a burglary in the 20600 block of Western Avenue, Torrance police Sgt. Robert Watt said.
In that crime, a burglar threw a rock through the window of the business and stole computers and electronics from workers' desks.
Police identified Richmond and have tied him to at least 17 similar burglaries in the city during the past year, Watt said.
DNA evidence can be collected in a variety of ways, including from skin, sweat or blood.
