A woman found dead at the bottom of a cliff in San Pedro was identified Wednesday as a Whittier resident.

Marcia Geraldine Ruiz, 64, was discovered Sunday night after firefighters received calls from people saying someone had gone over a cliff in the Sunken City area adjacent to Point Fermin Park, authorities said.

Los Angeles police were investigating the death as a possible suicide. The Coroner's Department will not determine a cause and manner of death until after the autopsy, which is pending.
