A Redondo Beach man required to register as a sex offender was arrested in Manhattan Beach after he allegedly stared at a 14-year-old Mira Costa High School student, police said Thursday.
The girl recently reported that a man in a gold/brown 1999 Chevrolet four-door vehicle made her feel uncomfortable on two occasions. The instances occurred as she left school and was standing near Peck and Nelson avenues waiting to be picked up, Manhattan Beach police Officer Stephanie Martin said.
Police on Monday stopped a vehicle matching the description and found it was driven by a 30-year-old man arrested in 2005 for indecent exposure, Martin said. He was required to register as a sex offender.
Police arrested him on suspicion of stalking the girl. Detectives did not release his name, saying they were in search of more victims and did not want to influence them.
California Department of Motor Vehicles records show the vehicle is registered to a 53-year-old Rancho Palos Verdes man.
