OAKLEY -- East Contra Costa Fire District will hold a workshop Saturday that promises to give anyone who's unfamiliar with the agency a well-rounded understanding of how it operates.

The public meeting will start at 9:30 a.m. at Fire Station 93, 530 O'Hara Ave., Oakley.

Specifically intended to bring the district's newest officials up to speed -- the nine-person board has acquired five new members in the past six months and another appointee will take his seat in April -- topics will range from the agency's history and organizational structure to its revenue, expenses and options for generating more income.

Participants also will discuss the ways the district conveys information to the public, its goals and the anticipated time frame for reaching them.
