BOULDER CREEK -- A 61-year-old Berkeley man died Monday in a crash on Jamison Creek Road.

The man's name was not released and authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash, said California Highway Patrol officer Bradley Sadek.

A driver reported the man's 2000 Ford Expedition about 60 feet down a dirt embankment near Empire Grade Road about 1:15 p.m., Sadek said.

The driver appeared to be traveling west but it was unclear when the solo crash happened, authorities said.

The Ford stopped on its left side with its chassis against trees. The driver was not wearing a seat belt, Sadek said.

He was found dead about 20 feet from the Ford.

Jamison Creek Road was closed in both directions for about 1 1/2 hours as authorities recovered the man and the Ford.

Boulder Creek Fire and Cal Fire also responded.

The CHP asks anyone with information to call 831-662-0511.
