HAYWARD -- A 33-year-old Hayward man was seriously injured but expected to live after being shot multiple times inside his car along city streets Tuesday night, police said.
Officers were called at 9:53 p.m. to the intersection of Revere Avenue and Kennet Street after several witnesses dialled 911 reported hearing several gunshots in the area, said Sgt. Mark Ormsby.
When police arrived they found a man who had been shot several times inside a 1980s model Chrysler Lebaron at the corner of nearby Albany and Revere avenues.
Evidence at the scene indicated the man was shot at Revere Avenue and Kennet Street and that he attempted to drive out of the area before his car hit another parked vehicle.
The area where he was shot is residential and located a few blocks south of Mission Boulevard.
Ormsby said the victim was the car's sole occupant and at this point it does not appear anyone else was injured.
The victim was transported in an ambulance to a nearby hospital and remained in intensive care on Wednesday morning, Ormbsy said.
No suspects have been arrested and a motive for the shooting was not known.
Police are investigating the shooting as an attempted murder.
