OAKLAND -- Funeral services have been set for a Fresno father and his 16-month-old son, both fatally shot inside an East Oakland home last week.
The wake for 20-year-old Andrew "Drew" Thomas will be from noon to 5 p.m. Monday at WFG-Fuller Funerals, 4647 International Blvd. in Oakland, said his father, Melvin Johnson.
Thomas' funeral is set for 11 a.m. Aug. 20 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 14th and Filbert streets in Oakland.
A separate memorial service and funeral for Thomas' son, Drew Leon Deon Jackson, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at WFG-Fuller Funerals, the family said. Drew's mother has requested those in attendance not wear black.
All services are open to the public, said Johnson, who is also the toddler's grandfather.
The toddler and his father were gunned down at 2:46 a.m. Aug. 7 by someone who fired into the rear bedroom of a home on Ghormley Avenue in Oakland's Brookfield Village neighborhood.
As of Monday, no arrest had been made, and a motive was not known, police said.
Thomas grew up in Oakland but had moved with his mother to Fresno and was preparing to relocate again to Sacramento, family members said. He was in town for a birthday party and was staying with his aunt along with other relatives.
Family members said police told them they believed the shooting was connected to the death of their cousin, Alquino Rivera, who was shot Aug. 3 while sitting in a car in the 8000 block of Ney Avenue. After Rivera was shot, Thomas and other relatives from out of town decided to stay on to prepare for the funeral.
Six-time felon Kendell Eatmon, 33, of Oakland, has been charged in Rivera's death, officials said Wednesday. However, police have not said if there is any connection between Rivera's slaying and the double homicide.
Johnson said that another relative was gunned down about two months ago in that same area.
Christopher A. Lander, 30, was killed June 3 after someone opened fire on a van he sat inside in East Oakland. The shooting happened about 11:20 p.m. in the 400 block of Darien Avenue.
Police don't have a motive yet for the shooting, and no arrests have been made.
