FREMONT -- Two people injured during a late night drive-by shooting in the city over the weekend were expected to recover, police said.
Officers were dispatched at 10:12 p.m. to Decoto Road near Ozark River Drive after they received multiple reports of shots being fired in the area, Officer Tiffany Bobbitt said.
As officers responded, a man dialed 911 and told a dispatcher that he had been shot in a vehicle in that area.
The victims, whose names and ages have not been released, told police they were traveling west on Decoto Road when a Black Chrysler 300 with tinted windows pulled alongside their vehicle and fired several shots from the passenger window.
The passenger in the vehicle was struck in the arm and the driver suffered a minor hip wound, Bobbitt said.
The passenger was transported to Eden Medical Center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries and the driver was treated at the scene, police said.
No suspect description was available and a motive for the shooting was not known.
