UNION CITY -- Attention East Bay residents: Be on the lookout for a female car thief armed with a stun gun.

An unusual carjacking took place about 7:37 p.m. Saturday after a woman walked up to a vehicle stopped near the intersection of 13th and F streets in Union City, said Cmdr. Ben Horner.

As the driver sat inside the vehicle, the suspect approached the vehicle from the passenger side, opened the passenger side door and threw some sort of liquid on the victim.

The woman, who wielded an electric stun gun, then shocked the victim, Horner said.

After the zap, the victim jumped out of his vehicle and ran away. The suspect got into the vehicle and drove off, Horner said.

The vehicle was later recovered on 14th Street, near University Avenue and the victim was not seriously injured.

Police did not provide a complete description of the suspect but said she was a black female, about 24 years old, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall with a heavy build.

Anyone with information about the carjacking is asked to call police at 510-471-3232 or the anonymous tip line at 510-675-5207.
