OAKLAND -- A small fire at the Lake Temescal recreation area in the Oakland hills was quickly contained Friday, authorities said.

The fire, which apparently was confined to grass and brush, started about 3:35 p.m. on the Broadway Terrace said of the lake, south of Highway 13.

Oakland firefighters had the fire under control at 3:46 p.m.

No structures were ever threatened, officials said.

How the fire started was not immediately known. It was also not known if any parts of the park were evacuated.

There were no reported injuries.
