HAYWARD -- Police detained three people in Hayward Thursday morning in connection with a Union City homicide investigation.
Hayward police officers served warrants about 8 a.m. at homes on the 900 block of B Street and on the 31100 block of Brae Burn Avenue, said Hayward Sgt. Mark Ormsby.
The warrants came at the request of the Union City Police Department, Ormsby said.
During the incidents, a man and a woman were detained at the B Street home and a woman was detained at the Brae Burn Avenue home, Ormsby said.
Police said they were detained for questioning, but have not been arrested, and their identities were not released.
Union City police couldn't immediately be reached for comment on what Union City homicide case the warrants were connected to, but the most recent in that city was a double homicide that took place on Sunday, just before 1 a.m. near the 33400 block of 11th Street.
Police said neighbors in that area dialed 911 after hearing gunshots then finding two men -- Daniel Garcia-Sanchez, 21, and Carlos Estrada-Partida, 18 -- lying in the street suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victims, both residents of the Decoto neighborhood in Union City, both died and, as of Wednesday evening, no suspects had been arrested and no motive had been announced in the case.
The slayings were the only ones this year in Union City.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 510-675-5224.
