OAKLAND -- A trio of men who were allegedly robbing people along 94th Avenue and Cherry Street on Wednesday had the tables turned on them when someone opened fire on them, police said.

Around 4:15 p.m., officers responded to the area for reports of gunshots and found the two men injured, police said. One of the men is in critical but stable condition at a local hospital. Another is reported to be in stable condition, police added.

No one else was injured.

Officers would not elaborate on what led up to the shooting, and it is unknown who shot the men.

The third man who was part of the alleged robbery ring remained at-large Wednesday night.
